November Program – Sue Capell

I am Sue Capell, and I am honored to bring you my trunk show this month. I live in a very big old Victorian house, caring for a big garden with over 1000 plants, have a big, beautiful family, and I love to travel. These interests pull me in all directions, but it’s quilting that is my Number 1 passion. I’ve been making quilts since 1964 when I
made my first quilt – a scrappy patchwork of 2” squares, all cut with scissors, with a red polished cotton back, and long since gone to a dog bed. When my babies were little, in the late 60’s and early 70s, a neighbor friend and I got together to make quilts for our babes: random big squares of flannel, polyester batting, a sheet for the backing, and tied with yarn at all the corners. This was the beginning of my quilt journey, and I’ll be showing you some of my early quilts as well as some of those
along the way. I bought my first long-arm machine in 2004, and that changed everything! Now I have a new passion where I can incorporate my love of old and vintage linens, ornate architecture, antique furniture, and designs from my travels into my craft. I hope my quilts will make you smile, because you can relate, give you confidence in yourselves and will inspire you.
